Travel-Lin Again

We’re flying out of the country today for a four month trip through Latin America (with a detour to Antarctica). On our trip last fall, we learned how difficult it is to maintain a good blog while you’re traveling. We wrestled with the idea of getting a new laptop to help improve the blog, but that made the website feel both burdensome and expensive rather than a joy to share with friends.

But the blog will live on in more modest ways, and there’s a few changes you might (or might not) notice. The individual posts will feature bigger pictures now, but probably less text. That’s because it’s generally easier to upload pictures than to think of what to write. We now read travel magazines with newfound appreciation.

The photo-a-day section is gone on our blog, but since 2006 when I (Danny) got my first SLR, I’ve done the photo-a-day project every other year on flickr and you’re welcome to follow along. Just click here or on the logo up top (the one with the red & blue dot).

As for our trip, we’ll be going to Argentina first, then taking a week cruise to Antarctica before traveling up the west coast of South America and ending with a few stops in Central America. We’re looking forward to seeing lots of natural wonders & some serious culture immersion. The iPods are loaded up with Spanish lessons for the ten hour flight south tonight.
